Franky Fard and the Scooter LoungeFiled Under: Rant
The Scooter Lounge is the best and, in my opinion, the only place to buy or repair a scooter in Utah County. The guys there have sold me parts for my scooter a couple of times over the last 3 years. They are great, honest, and will be inconvenienced a little just to do what is right for YOU, the customer.
This last summer I got 3 flats on my scoot and didn’t have any cash. (Now, in telling all of you this I don’t mean to imply that you should do the same, but with that said…) The guys at the Scooter Lounge let me use their pry-bar to get my tire off of the wheel to replace the tube. They let me use their pry-bar in their shop for FREE, and they were really cool to do so. Granted I bought the tire from the Scooter Lounge, but come on, no where else would that happen.
Point of Story: This guy Farzad Fard is screwing them over. He has written them bad checks and now is threatening a law suit because they decided to do the public a favor and let everyone one know, who reads their blog, that this guy won’t pay.
Mr. Fard I hope you get your just deserts from your actions.

Its stupid that this guy Farzard is being so lame and I hope all the best for Scooter Lounge.
I’m not really a huge fan of them though. When they bored and stroked my Derbi, they used a lot of 3rd party parts that were way cheaper than they originally priced it for in the beginning.
When they put on the air filter, they maximized the intake hole instead of just replacing the filter with something more sufficient. When I moved up to Denver I started having problems with it. I took it to a Derbi shop and had a Derbi tec look at it.
He said to me, “Did you install all these parts?” and I said no, He told me that the exhaust was not put on properly and the way they cut a whole in the original intake was just plane wako.
However, Dave was always really nice to me. and always did seem to care about customer service. I know they were just trying to make some money. I only wish they would have told me about the situation instead of using crap parts.

I’m sorry that you had this experience with our shop. I don’t recall your specific situation, but I question the “crap parts” comment. The only parts we ever installed on Derbi scooters were Metrakit brand parts (metrakitusa.com), which at the time were sold by Derbi USA. There is no such thing as Derbi brand performance parts, so any performance parts would by definition be “3rd party” parts. The method of modifying the airbox was also done to several scooters at the suggestion of the Derbi importer, with good results at our elevation. There was a genleman who worked for Derbi named Josh (he now works for Piaggio USA) that advised us on how to tune and modify Derbi scooters. He kitted an Atlantis that took second place at the scooter racing nationals that year. That said, there is no “one right way” to tune a motor, nor “one right brand” of parts. And I’m not by any means an authority on the subject. There’s a lot I know, and a lot I have yet to learn. I don’t doubt that another tech would have disagreed with the way we did things, that’s the nature of performance tuning, but I assure you we never set out to rip you off, and the parts we used were the parts you paid for. I hope that you will feel free to talk with me anytime, and that you’ll give me a chance to make it right. Dave
