I just barely realized how old this is... Why ban longboarding? That's one of the most idiotic things I have hear of. Glad they at least brought it back with some restrictions. Still, pretty idiotic. That's why it's best to live somewhere else than Utah. Too many fagots. It's really not a great place.... And I live here. DAMMIT! 1 more year and I'm out of this shit hole! Good luck to the rest of you!

Sorry if it's a tad long..

Here's what I have to say on this matter. Sure I live in Australia and yes, this post was done in 2007, BUT this is a serious issue as I am a longboarder myself, and a committed one at that.
First of all, longboards are a more economical and cheap way of transportation; so everytime you get on to a board to get from A to B, your saving the environment by not using a vehicle that's powered by fossil fuels, and saving a few dollars by not spending money on the gasoline for that vehicle.
Secondly, it's completely unfair on all levels of the spectrum to make a passionate hobby of many as against the law.
Thirldly, longboards don't damage anything. They don't kill or injure people, they have nothing to do with vandalism, and they certainly do not have the same damaging and fundamental similarities to a skateboard.
Fourthly, most longboarders today have a calm and relaxed personality - this means that longboarders get together and have a good time without finding the need to fight or be holligans by destroying their surroundings. They are too busy having a good time on their boards, and as a result, you have a comunity that older generations long for.
Fifthly, a longboard can be used by anyone, at any age. The alodescent consumer are not the only ones who are interested in longboarding, for i have come across people from ages between 8 to 53 who believe it's a good idea for many reasons.
Finally, obesity is an issue that is difficult to solve, but such a sport is very active and enjoyable, so larger people who discover longboarding will find that they are losing weight at a reasonable amounts if they begin such an activity. Plus, seeing as this sport is an outdoor activity it will soon destry issues such as: lack of outdoors, internet addiction, gaming addictions, serious health conditions, little confidence and general well-being of self, and many more.
In conclusion, whoever came up with the idea to have longboarding as against the law ,should, for once, consider what I have just mentioned (and maybe even ride one some day) :D

So basically where are other good places in utah county to longboard and I vote we get a huge rally of hundreds of boarders and ride the trails any way and just totally hog it up or go totally block off a whole street and ride it and just not let cars in or out and tell them that were sorry but we don't have any where else to ride we keep gettin kicked out? but it has to be a main high traffic road.
